More Fail

So! The problem with temp work? It's temporary. In anger, I lampoon a popular actor!

Who the hell is that? Well, I don't like him. If anyone out there can actually tell who it's supposed to be, I will weep with joy. BIG HINT: He's a ball sucker.

Yeah, I need to practice likenesses more.

Fail

I have managed to fail at encouraging myself to draw more often by maintaining this blog. Perhaps I am lazy.

Perhaps I have a temp placement with full-time hours plus overtime doing warehouse work and my hands are just in too much damn pain to hold a pencil at the end of the week.

In fact, typing is quite painful. One day, I hope, my hands will grow used to the work and strong enough to draw again. In the meantime, I'm gonna call it a hiatus.

... And roll around in the bounty of my weekly paycheque :)

Lame, but it's a start

And now under the "J"...

This is some exceeding rushed and uninspired sketchy junk of a character who's been bouncing around in my head for some time. Eventually, I'll nail down a style and colours for her. Eventually. Hell, she doesn't even have a name yet... but I know who she is. Anyway, I semi-censored her crappy chest just in case certain minors from a certain forum I frequent are watching...

Like I said, I'm still trying to nail down a colour set for her, so I did a quickie little colour job on her face. I think I like her as a brunette - I'm not sure what I'm doing as far as highlights and such, and I really need to give her a wardrobe.

I mean, having her naked is fun and all, but I think it's more exciting when she's clothed most of the time, you know, to have something to bounce the nekkidness off of.

Heh. Bounce. Nekkid. Heh heh.

EDIT: Oh, by the way, Lindsay liked my Daisy is Dead fanart :) I'm all happy. But I'm also all sad... because her site has imploded. Josh Lesnick (of Girly fame) drew a guest comic for her and linked her site, and the ensuing tsunami of fans kerploded her bandwidth. If you wish to experience her unique brand of awesome, however, just check out her DeviantArt pages. Brilliant!

F-f-f-fanart!

I ran into this awesome webcomic called Daisy is Dead and loved the drawing style so much I had just had to mess with it. This is the first sketch I did - a total copy of Daisy's character profile art.
Don't ask about Derf. Really, don't. Just go read through the archives and you'll understand. So, anyway, once I figured I had a basic handle on Daisy's proportions (very basic, mind you) I slapped the happy pic below together. Again, you'll understand the whole thing better if you've read Daisy is Dead but basically... zombie grows daisies. Hippie likes daisies. Hippie picks daisies. Yaaaaaay.

I'm pretty darn happy with that. I'll be sending it to Lindsay Smith as fanart - I hope she likes it too. It's been about 2 years since I've sent fanart to anyone... I have fear. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Where have I been?

Working on the following! The ridiculously large amount of crap to follow should more than make up for waiting over a week to post again... surely.Cute little gaming couples vignettes for Valentine's Day! I was asked to do a banner for the One Duck's Opinion blog, so I've spent much of the last week planning and sketching for it. Above we have Luigi failing pathetically to set up a picnic basket for himself and his sweetie, Daisy. I love Luigi, he's such a loser.

Then we've got Peach, who has baked a cake for Mario for the hundred thousandth time. He still pretends to be surprised, and eats it anyway. You'd think she'd buy him a card or something. Jeez.

I did not want to draw this couple. I drew this couple against my will. None but Sally should ever be that close to Sonic, dangit, I don't care if she never appeared in the games. Arrgh. Anyway, I got my tidbit of vengeance by giving Sonic the one thing that could distract him from any woman - a chili dog. I think this is my favorite picture out of the group - it was the first I drew, and I feel it got the most attention and detail. Frankly, by the time I got to these next two, I was burnt the hell out.
Just don't look directly at Zelda's face, or too closely at Link's tights, and this is an okay picture. Everyone focus on how cute it is that he made her a necklace from those otherwise useless stones!
Finally I squeezed it all onto a lame background I pulled out of my ass. Man, I shoulda put some trees in there or something, but I wanted it to be simple enough that the characters would be the main focus. Note to self: Work on some freaking backgrounds. Guh.

In any case, there is more junk waiting to spill out of my sketchbook, but for now I think I'm gonna sleep before my eyes melt completely out of my head.

More crap

Hey, the artistic juices just ain't been flowing. Unemployment's getting me down. Anyway, here's what happens when I'm bored and pick up pencils and markers.

And, this being another case of, "Hate the page, love this one chunk of it", I recoloured the chick in the bottom right corner and fixed her nose a bit. I'm experimenting a lot with my styles right now, and something about her felt good to draw.

And last but not quite least, a redraw of an old, old, ollllld character, Gabri:

I can't believe this junk is the best I have to offer this week. I think I'll go stab myself in the forehead now. Toodle-loo!

Bowling Day!

Yo. This past Saturday I went to my bro's bowling league, and I was bored... and this page appeared.
I freaking hate that clown. I hate clowns. I would tell you the story of this clown, but I think I will save that for the day I am brave enough to draw the terror that was our encounter. In other news, I was so enamored with hideous little special Joe there, that I had to make him even more special!

That is probably the worst photoshop job I have done in years... and Joe deserves it! Let's have ahand for Joe!

*Crickets chirping*

Marlon Brando... sort of.

Hey. This is a little project I did for the dude running One Duck's Opinion, when someone claimed him to be the Don of the Ducks, and someone else said they could picture Marlon Brando as... well, you'll see.

First off, the man himself, and the original suggested duck to combine him with. It, er, didn't work out. (Language warning for this one, by the way)

So I think you can see where this is going. A progress page:

And finally, the inked image:

Now I admit I got a little lazy on the colouring here... For the love of Bob, I spent a week turning this poor man into a mallard, gimme a break!!

Sons of Butcher Fan Art

I've been working on these since, well, since I saw these guys live in concert and it blew my mind right out my left ear. Anyway, I did Doug, the bassist first, way back in November:

I kind of rushed the inking on that one, for which I have already kicked myself, but eh - you live, you learn. Now with Ricky, the guitarist/lead singer, hoo boy did I run into trouble. I'd never drawn a guitar before, I have little experience drawing husky dudes, his pose was difficult, and it took about 7 tries to get the colouring of his clothes anywhere near right. Guh.

Considering all the trouble that last one was, I'm pretty proud of it, especially the guitar. It really looks like a guitar, doesn't it? *Beams*

First image post - under the junk category, I think.

I was flipping through my sketchbook and I found the page that got me thinking about starting a drawing blog. See, I showed this to my brother, and he went, 'wow, you should post this on an art journal or something.' So here we go.

I drew this at 2 am, about a week before I decided to quit the latest retail job. I believe I'm yelling at a golf tee in the upper left corner there. I love the crap that comes out of my brain.

A new beginning?

A lot has been going on lately.

I recently left my fashion retail job for one at a more prestigious store... then learned it wasn't at all how I thought it would be there. This got me thinking, what is it I really want? What do I really want to do with my life? What makes me happy? I realized I didn't know - but I did know I couldn't stand retail any longer.

Now I'm unemployed. What do I want to do most with my life? I'm not sure. What do I want to do most right now? Draw. And share my drawings with anyone who cares to see them. So I have a drawing blog now. I can't call it an 'art' blog, because nothing I've produced up until this moment can really be called 'art', so for now it will house my drawings, my rants, whatever comes out of my brain and splatters onto the computer.

Here goes.
